What is the Silent Auction?

The Band Booster Silent Auction is a fundraiser held in conjunction with the Evening at the Salt Lick event in which individuals and businesses donate items that are placed up for bid. Items donated include merchandise, services, and gift certificates. People attending the event bid on the items throughout the evening. Typically a minimum starting amount is set along with a dollar amount by which bids may be increased. Bids are submitted by simply writing your name, bid amount, and contact information on a Bid Sheet. At the end of the evening, the person placing the highest bid for each item is the winner.

Asking a business to donate to the Auction.

Area businesses are a key source for auction items. If you have a connection with a local business and are willing to ask for an auction donation your help would be greatly appreciated! Guidelines and a letter for requesting Business donations are attached below. If you plan to contact a local business for a donation, please email David Brandon to ensure that no one else has contacted the business already. The deadline for donations is Thursday, January 26th, 2012.

Donating an item to the Auction.

Although you can always purchase and donate an item to the Auction, you don't necessarily have to spend money to make a donation. Many of us have creative talents or can provide a service that would be of value to others. If you can cook, paint, clean, organize, refinish furniture, quilt, knit, tutor, or do yard work, then give some thought to a way in which you could package your talents/services for the auction. A form is attached below that can be used to document and submit items to the auction. The deadline for donations is Thursday, January 26th, 2012.

Yes, you can. The Band Booster organization is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, making all donations tax deductible. All businesses and individual donors will receive a receipt for tax purposes.

Helping with the Auction.

Assistance is needed with pre- and post- auction activities. This includes preparing signage for auction items, helping with auction setup, assisting with auction payment & check-out, coordinating post-auction item pickup, preparing/sending Thank You letters. A number of band parents have already volunteered to assist with some of these activities (list attached), but more are needed. If you are willing to help out with any of the auction activities, please contact: David Brandon.
